(jd) On Monday evening (04.08.), the emergency services were called to Sandstraße at around 10.50 p.m. because a previously unknown man was apparently heavily intoxicated. After the emergency services arrived, the man immediately became verbally aggressive. He then ran towards the two ambulance staff members several times in a threatening manner and attempted to physically assault them. They managed to fend off the attacks and restrain the man, who is 39 years old and from Herford, until the police officers arrived. He also resisted the police officers. The 39-year-old was taken into custody in Herford to prevent further offenses. A blood sample was also taken by order of the public prosecutor's office. The man from Herford must now answer for assault and battery.
