The San Hejmo music festival took place on the grounds of Weeze Airport between Thursday (August 15, 2024) at 10:00 and Sunday (August 18, 2024) at 13:00. On the two actual festival days, Friday (August 16, 2024) and Saturday (August 17, 2024), a total of around 65,000 people were on the festival grounds, including around 15,000 camping guests, most of whom had already traveled to Weeze on Thursday (August 15, 2024).
During the festival period, there were a total of 28 police operations. These included five criminal offenses involving bodily harm, one sexual harassment and eight other offenses (e.g. theft and embezzlement). In addition, there were 14 requests for assistance on the festival site with no traffic or criminal police relevance, eight expulsions and one detention.
There were five traffic accidents on the arrival and departure routes of the festival site, two of which resulted in personal injury. One person was seriously injured in a solo accident with a pedelec and was taken to a local hospital due to the injuries, while another person suffered minor injuries.
The Kleve district police authority can draw a positive balance after the four-day music festival, during which a peaceful atmosphere prevailed. (pp)
